But some questionable pacing choices and underdeveloped characters and ideas hold the series back a little. The central mystery is captivating enough. ![]() The first three episodes offer a promising start to this series – though, there’s also a lot of room for improvement. Adapting the third Langdon novel, Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol proves once and for all that Robert Langdon belongs on TV. Or, more accurately, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock. ![]() ![]() Heidi's gradual introduction to various elements of BDSM are interesting though ultimately repetitious. Of course those sex scenes are the prinicipal purpose of the show, so limiting them would have helped the overall whole, but harmed its commercial value. ![]() Her earlier Lesbian magnum opus "Cherry" was wisely made in two parts, released separately, perhaps a better format than this feature, whose sex scenes drag on interminably. The actlng here is fine, with a few colorful characters including another fashion designer itching to get out of her contract to Kaiser, played by a larger than life Romi Rain, but Brandt's approach leads to a bloated movie. It is set in the fashion industry, limning the romantic tale of student Heidi (empathetically portrayed by Whitney Wright) who is taken under the wing of her boss Warren Kaiser (dashing porno leading man Ryan Driller), made his executive assistant, and signing a contract of the domination/submission format so familiar from the 50 shades books. James' massive hit "50 Shades of Gray" covering the same territory. ![]() Kitt's BDSM novel "Heidi and the Kaiser" was published in 2009, two years before E.L. If, as I suspect, she's done the same with her other novels as well, then the two of us are on the way to becoming fast friends. ![]() Catch of the Day may not be my favorite romance book around, and really, it isn't much of a romance book at all, but Kristan Higgins may be one of my favorite authors, merely because she chose to step out of the typical bubble of romance and explore something entirely different with this book. His brother Donald is represented as almost a religious zealot where as Pete is merely portrayed as a rich business man. Throughout the “The Rich Brother” Pete never criticizes God but never speaks as profoundly about God as his brother does. Throughout, “The Rich Brother”, Wolff portrays Peter as Cain because he shows a lack of devotion to God, creates a rival ship with his brother, and climatically abandons his only brother Donald. Cain becomes outraged because he believes that Able has purposely tried to embarrass him, ultimately, leading Cain to become so enraged that he ends up murdering his only brother in cold blood. This in turn, creates tension between the two because Able’s sacrifice of the lamb is much favored by God than is Cain’s offering of his crops. In the biblical story Cain and Able end up giving gifts (sacrifices) to appease to their God. Cain and Able are children of Adam and Eve, where Cain is the eldest and Able the younger of the two. The biblical story of Able and Cain is that of the first story that puts man against man. Tobias Wolff’s short story, “The Rich Brother”, is a parallel story to the biblical fable of Able and Cain. ![]() ![]() Customer service is also open during all scheduled performances.
